My Footprints

I marched through miles of desert sands
then looked behind to see…
My footprints as they disappeared
And they belonged to me

Your teachings say you carried me
So why do my legs ache
did you also bear the burden
of the pursuers in my wake

When rifle rounds and missile fire
Lit up the midnight sky
Did that sound drown out the heavens
Or did you hear my cry

I will not mock believers
Their is strength in faith that’s true
But I have seen horrendous suffering
On the road that lead to you

I’m not afraid to believe in you
I just find it hard to see
that you carried me across miles of sand
yet you never spoke to me
