Lowly born child

Outside it’s cold
A north wind is blowing
Before too long
It will be snowing
Nothing is sure
But at this time of year
There is a need
And a hope for good cheer

Christmas is nigh
With a promise of mirth
Time to give thanks
For the Virgin’s new birth
Praise to our God
For the gift of his son
All that he brought
That would help everyone

Laid in the hay
In swaddling clothes tight
Keeping Him warm
On this holiest night
Lowly born child
Whose mother would see
Shepherds and Kings
On their bended knee

Sing of this child
Of the joy he did bring
Lighting our hearts
This infant new King
Give thanks to God
That He let this day pass
His Son was born
For us at Christmas
