“Let History Not Repeat Itself”

The future promises of many things—almost everything
but none of that means a thing
not when our future is stuck in the past
a future stuck in a past tormented by war

How can we existed while blood escapes, from our soldier’s faces?
while death tolls raise at an astounding pace
while innocents pay the price
innocents paying the price for the idiocracy of war

where is the peace that desire us, even at the pyres
by cruel hands dousing peace in a fire
will the world ever learn?
the world learning not to turn to war?

peace is its own reward—a solution of discord
peace solves problems without ever pulling a sword
and God if peace could come here
if peace could save us from what we should avoid—war
