Lest We Forget

Soldiers fought in the muddy battlefield,their guns high up from the trenches beneath the ground,the brave soldiers’ faces smothered in sweat, some lay dead on the bloody ground. Over 1000 of them killed every day, some left in terrible pain.

They did this to leave us in peace,
these brilliant soldiers never ceased!
They left people they loved behind,
being nice, helpful and not unkind.
A sea of blood left all around;
hundreds of bodies never to be found.
Some left that we never met,
may they rest in peace- lest we forget!!
