Last parade

A long long way from home
Fighting in the foreign sand
For reasons he’s not sure about
And has no need to understand

He believes his country needs him
And he want’s to serve her well
But he fights for many reasons
Some of them he cannot tell

He fights not for reward
He attacks not for the fame
But for the Regiment and pride
And because they’re all the same

And when their day is finally done
They’re wrapped up in a shroud
They don’t want your sympathy
Just be of them so proud
