Iraq fights back

A hole in the ground
So large and round,
Devours a soldier
Laying him in the ground
To leave no sound
Only echoes around,
Where silence lingers
And the hole gets bigger,
Where the soldier lays
Clutching his trigger
Stillness surrounds,
There is no sound in the ground
There is no-one around
To hear the silent sound
