“I Plead the Fifth”

“One’s right to silence must not be infringed”
As founding Fathers ‘stated’ long ago
For truth (as last resort) on this law hinged
Whilst others pressed for answers even so
Incrimination may result from same
As uttered phrase can’t then in turn, retract
Should legal teams then chide; perchance defame
Twill justify approach as ‘nailing’ fact
Tho counsel kept twud seem at odds with oath
Where each doth swear to stand by every word
To speak; to not be heard (in this case, both)
Pray, evidence be evident when shared
Tis justice that’s on trial, so be aware
What’s said may tip the scales (if you so dare)
