“Heed the Call”

by | Jan 4, 2013 | Poetry | 0 comments

Earth’s soil is cold and dank against the skin
As life blood drains away to cleanse my soul
A poignant moment shared, no more in sin
Forgiveness asked and granted, to be whole
Through use of gun and our inhuman traits
‘Tis easy to lose sight of whence we came
For greed and power by their force dictates
Sad course of evil men in hopeful gain
In facing consequence of actions plan
From leaders who are blinded in their quest
Results in one’s abbreviated span
For those of us, who are now laid to rest
Pray heed your heart at sound of bugle’s call
Said righteousness, betwixt both sides doth fall
