Five Men

5 Men sat around a fire burning bright
5 men sat in the middle of the night
5 men awake, not tired or yawning
5 men debating, laughing and talking

They talked of life of family and love
They talked of birds and brave white doves
They talked of beer and wine and crac
The talked of the longing to be back

5 men with thoughts of pranks and fun
5 men with thoughts of firing guns
5 men with hopes of peace and rest
5 men who knew they served with the best

They remembered comrades who moved on
They remembered wives, daughters and sons
They remembered times both good and bad
They remembered things that made them sad

5 ghosts sat around a fire burning bright
5 ghosts sat in the middle of the night
5 ghosts comforted by NIVA growing strong
5 ghosts memories would keep going on
