EMPATHY

The pictures on the telly, flicker and show

The disgusting scenes of another war.

People lying dead, houses on fire,

Weeping children, Old ladies praying.

The reporter trying to find words to describe

The horror he sees, and has seen before.

The elderly man watching has seen it all,

His eyes follow the images, his mind pictures

See similar scenes in other places.

The welcoming crowds throwing flowers

Pleasure for some, many more wait,

And pray that their loved ones live.

The soldiers find the usual gruesome sights,

Of torture, mutilation, dead bodies in graves

Where the guilty try to bury their guilt.

Whilst their rulers claim their propaganda claims .

When will mankind live in peace,

With himself , and all the human race.
