Edifice

The crumbling edifice of love
Falls slowly to the ground
Shattering my confidence
And hope that I had found

Down comes that towering giant
In clouds of choking dust
The girders that once held it
Now twisted-steaked with rust

Where once I breathed such sweet air
Now choking billows swirl
How can there be such chaos
Brought on by just one girl

There is no sense or reason
No message I can send
To help you make some sense of
A love that’s at it’s end
