Don’t give up, it’s not your time

Far away in a war torn land
The broken body of a soldier lay dying
Amidst the mayhem he hears a voice
A voice which is constantly crying
“Don’t give up… It’s not your time”

Critically injured, he’s barely alive
The med team they work long and hard
Although he’s unconscious he can still hear a voice
A voice he can not disregard
“Don’t give up… It’s not your time”

Wired to a monitor in a hospital back home
Kept sedated the visions flash through his mind
He’s terrified, yet still, a voice in his head
Speaks words so comforting and kind
“Don’t give up… It’s not your time”

Slowly and steadily week by week
New strength starts to flow through his weak frame
A strength which is aided by a voice in his head
Saying over and over again
“Don’t give up… It’s not your time”

Then one day, he twitches, ever so slightly
There’s a flicker of life in his eyes
His loved ones are with him the moment he wakes
He hears a whispering voice through their cries
“Don’t give up… It’s not your time”

But whose was the voice, he heard every day
The one so tender and pure
As he lay on his bed thoughts run through his
He’s heard the voice once before
“Don’t give up… It’s not your time”

His room was then filled with a radiant light
A face to the voice he could see
There before him an Angel appeared
Saying “Do not be afraid … it was me”
“Don’t give up… It’s not your time”

As I watched over, your loved ones and friends
Passed my comforting message to you
You may have been injured, but you must never give in
You have so much more living to do
“Don’t give up… It’s not your time”
