Dark Spirits Haunt

Strange dark spirits haunt in my abode,
Surreptitious ghosts from days of ode,
Their proclivity not even known,
Nor ethereal visions have they shown.

These interlopers from spirit world,
They open doors, and carpets furled,
Pernicious is their evil side
Through the walls and windows blatant glide.

Brightest sunlight is their only fear,
These spooks cause me such a frightful tear,
I so pray for sleep and morning’s tea,
Solace! Have thy so forsaken me?

Somnolent now as eyes slowly close,
I cuddle tight beneath my bedclothes,
On periphery of deepest sleep,
I pray to the Lord my soul to keep.
