Carpe Diem – MMXII

by | Aug 6, 2012 | Poetry | 0 comments

In life, these days are few and far between
When witnessing the Spirit at the core
In reaching heights as we have ever seen
Our aspirations soared as ne’er before
Euphoric scenes unfurled to greet our eyes
Huge waves of cheer assaulted senses primed
With tears of joy for some more worldly wise
As daily cares were to the wind consigned
Yon spectacle in ancient times ‘the norm’
When Man fought Gods to prove his strength of will
In fear mere mortals die lest we conform
Yet in our hearts the fire’s burning still
Our hope for generations yet to come
Such ‘Golden Days’ lived out beneath the Sun
