An Ode to a Poppy

by | Feb 25, 2008 | Poetry | 0 comments

There is no colour so intense
No rose which lasts so long
As the poppy’s dramatic look

No flower so fragile
Yet comes again every year
As the poppy fields at home

No other reminder is needed
Of the innocent blood long spilt
Except the blooming poppy’s dripping red.
